Dr. Seyed Taghi Nourbakhsh, Managing Director of the Iranian Social Security Organization (ISSO), in a meeting with the Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Mexico stated: Iran and Mexico have a great potentiality to cooperate in the fields of pension, tourism, and economic relations.
Focusing on preparedness of the ISSO to share its knowledge and develop cooperation with Mexican Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare,Dr. Nourbakhsh asserted: The ISSO has covered around 40 million persons equal to 50 percent of the country population and provides a variety of 18 short-term and long-term services through comprehensive social security system which is established on the basis of Defined Benefit model.
He also added: The Iranian Social Security organization is also active in the areas such as investment and stocks market through its 7 holding companies for the purpose of maintaining the value of ISSO reserves and assets as well as improving the value of received contribution from the insured people.
In this meeting, Mr. Alfonso Navarrete Pride, Minister of Labor and Social Welfare of Mexico, emphasized the effective role of Iranian Social Security Organization in improving social welfare and stated that the ISSO high efficiency and efficacy can perform as an international model.
Mr. Navarrete Pride remarked that Mexican social security system has recently undergone reformation with the aim of improving the quality of medical care and social security services for the workers and the retired population.
He underlined the similarities between the social security systems of Iran and Mexico, and conveyed his deep interest to exchange knowledge with ISSO and cooperate with it in any fields contributing to the extension of social security coverage.
