During the visit of a large delegation from Republic of Korea to the Islamic republic of Iran, Iranian Social Security Organization (ISSO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korean Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA). The MoU signed by Dr. Seyed Taghi Nourbakhsh, the Managing Director of the ISSO and Dr. Sohn Myongsei, President of Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service of Korea in the presence of Dr. Ali Rabei, Minister of Cooperative, Labour and Social Welfare of Iran and Dr. Chang Chin Youb, Minister of Health and Welfare of Republic of Korea is focused on implementing ICT systems for cost management, quality monitoring, drug utilization review, resource management, artificial intelligent-based review and assessment process of medical document and electronic health records.
Dr. Rabei asserted that the Ministry of Cooperative, Labour and social Welfare of I.R. Iran, in addition to its mission in the field of labor relations and job-creation, follows a variety of welfare activities through different Social Security Funds for workers, employees, and rural population.
“Addressing Issues related to disability, old-age and child-labor is the responsibility of this Ministry”, he added and continued: "Currently, 40 million people of Iranian population are covered by insurance and health services of the ISSO, which now owns 400 hospitals and health centers besides 550 insurance branches for providing services to the insured population.
He also added: “Hospital construction in one of the most important priorities of the Ministry and the ISSO, and 40 percent of drugs of the country is produced by this organization".
Dr. Rabei hoped that signing this MoU will smooth the path for more collaboration between the two sides.
In this meeting, Dr. Chang Chin Youb, Minister of Health and Welfare of Korea stated: “I hope signing this MoU will provide a great opportunity for more cooperation between the two organizations and also the two countries. Access to health insurance services is possible for all Korean people in a way that 80 percent of health costs of inpatient and 50 percent of outpatient are covered by the insurer entities. Given these facts, Republic of Korea is at a good level of health and welfare".
“We believed that friendship and collaboration between ISSO and HIRA can be very fruitful, and we support this cooperation”, he concludes.
Dr. Seyed Taghi Nourbakhsh, the Managing Director of the ISSO, described the ISSO health and insurance services and benefits and remarked that, the health care services delivered by this Organization are divided into two sections of direct and indirect which the latter is done through contracted health centers.
He hoped that signing this MoU will lead to remarkable outcomes on cost management as well as electronic review and assessment of medical records and claims.
"Another MoU is also signed between the ISSO and Korean hospital constriction companies through which the subspecialty cancer hospital will be constructed in Yazd province” he added.
