Dear Mr Mohseni Bandpey,
On behalf of the President of the International Social Security Association (ISSA) and the ISSA General Secretariat, I am writing to express my sincere condolences on the tragic departure of Dr Seyed Taghi Nourbakhsh.
As a member of the ISSA Bureau and Titular Delegate for the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr Nourbakhsh was a long-standing friend and supporter of the ISSA.
Convinced by the paramount importance of social security for social progress, Dr Nourbakhsh was remarkable in his commitment to promote social security in his country and worldwide.
An outstanding expert of social security, his knowledge and advice were highly appreciated by his colleagues. His restless efforts have had a considerable positive impact on many initiatives to improve social security for the benefit of populations so much in need of decent social security protection.
Personally, I hold dear memories of our many encounters both in Geneva and internationally, in particular of my visit to Teheran, where I gained a unique insight into the operations of ISSO and into the impressive culture and history of his beloved city and country.
His presence will be greatly missed in our global community. My thoughts are with his family and colleagues whom I wish strength to overcome their immense loss.
Hans-Horst Konkolewsky Secretary General
